📚 About Our Benchmark 📚

How We Test GPU Performance

What is WebGPU?

WebGPU is the next-generation graphics API for the web, replacing the older WebGL standard. It provides modern, efficient access to your GPU directly from your web browser—no downloads or installations required.

Unlike traditional GPU benchmarks that require downloading large applications, our WebGPU benchmark runs entirely in your browser using the same technology that powers modern web applications, games, and AI tools.

✨ Supported Browsers: Chrome 113+, Edge 113+, Firefox 121+, Safari 17.4+ (with WebGPU enabled)

How Our Benchmark Works

1. Compute Shader Test (50% of score)

This test measures raw computational power by performing massive matrix multiplication operations. We multiply two 512×512 matrices filled with random numbers repeatedly for 7-15 seconds (depending on test mode).

What it measures: Your GPU's ability to handle parallel mathematical operations—the foundation of AI workloads, scientific computing, and data processing.

2. 3D Rendering Test (50% of score)

This test evaluates graphics rendering capability by drawing complex 3D scenes with vertex and fragment shaders. We render as many frames as possible in 8-15 seconds.

What it measures: Your GPU's graphics performance—how well it handles gaming, video editing, and visual applications.

Final Score Calculation

Your final score combines both tests equally (50% compute + 50% rendering). Scores typically range from under 5,000 (integrated or older graphics) to 55,000+ (elite dedicated GPUs).

🏆 Grade System

After your benchmark completes, your GPU is assigned a performance grade based on your score. Here's how the tiers break down:

The leaderboard ranks GPUs by their single highest recorded score rather than average, so every result represents the best known performance for that hardware.

⚙️ Note: We are currently in the process of dialing in our scoring tiers. Please bear with us while we make these adjustments. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions please feel free to reach out via our contact page. Thank you so much for your time and consideration — and thanks for choosing gpubenchtest.com!
